Google Tool

Google Buzz

Google Buzz is another social media tool that is taking aim at social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. Google Buzz is very simular to other social media web-sites where you share status updates, photos, videos and more. With Google Buzz you can also intergrate other services from around the web such as Picasa, Twitter, You Tube, etc.
I selected to find out more about Google Buzz, a google web tool because I recall reading a news article about this new form of social media. In the article, the writing really promoted this web-tool making me believe that there was going to be a big booming effect with Google Buzz. Six-months later and I still do not see anything that can compete with Facebook.
Google Buzz is easy to set up and use. If you are connected on your gmail account often you will see your "Buzz" section listed and continuously get side tracted. I learned that Google Buzz will take your gmail inboxes and talk IM contacts to see who you are comminicating with most frequently for your friend list. Just as anyother social media tool. Be careful with what you decide to share with the world.
I do not nominate this as a top tool for students only because it is still a new social media route that has not grown by increase of users. Knowing that almost all of your contacts have a Facebook account, I would suggest the students continue to keep a profile where they will be able to stay in touch with their contacts on a promising basis.
